How do you follow up a dinner of heart-stopping buttery dishes? Clearly with a breakfast of fresh doughnuts.

I Can’t Believe It’s (Not) Butter.
There are the restaurants in New York and elsewhere called Butter. And then there are restaurants in Seattle that should be called Butter.
…
Went back to Sitka + Spruce last night. Their menu changes frequently so why waste time eating tomato soup when there’s pecorino toada to try in many different forms?
It was crowded [...]

Eggs, get your eggs here! Fresh and white eggs are here!!!
Wiggle jiggle, yellow middle, thats the best of what you are. White and tender, surrond the center, cozy sitting in a crackling shell.
Vitamins and minerals in you. Oodles of the protiens, too! Oodle doodle!

the Seattle marathon.
The window behind this one in my web browser has a list of flights to Philadelphia and New York. They all leave from Seattle in mid-April and return three days before my lease is up. One of these flights will take me to the east coast for Passover and deliver me back in [...]

on the road.
Road trip. Woohoo!
See, this had always been the plan. Move to Seattle, cook, drive back East. And so I moved to Seattle and I cooked. And now I’m planning my drive back to New York.
The plans are in motion, the routes are being drafted. I-80? I-70? Swing through South [...]

freshly churned olive oil gelato.
I’ve wanted to live in Seattle since I was a freshman in high school. The Space Needle, the mountain views, the rain, the coffee. I wanted it all. But when I started cooking professionally, a whole new slew of reasons were added to the “pros” column of my list.
I’d sit at [...]

stories.
My restaurant back in New York was big. Bill Clinton, Uma Thurman big. We’d ogle at Zack Morris and watch his every bite, coveting the lives of the rich and famous. It was a huge dining room with fabulous lighting, waterfront views, and enough Prada shoes to outfit an army.
But it was [...]

spring is on the menu.
It’s apparent in this week’s menu that spring is knocking on Seattle’s door. See, spring comes earlier to the Pacific Northwest. February is not the coldest month and the first days of March welcome sunshine and blooming crocuses. New York, on the other hand (and coast), is still stuck in winter. Snow and ice and [...]
